Playstation PS3 “Playfaces” Campaign walkthrough

Edit Hat.

Our studio in Tokyo, note fully mechanized grid system in the ceiling.

We created a small "den" for the players to play in, cut off from the outside world, lit only by the montior itself and augemented LED panels which matched the color scheme of each game.  We had a 3-camera setup running, a constantly running 30fps Arri d-21 system, a phantom camera setup running at 500FPS and a Canon 5D mark II system in place, all of which I could trigger by remote as I lurked behind the camera setup.

 Phantom and arricam monitors.

The end tag sequences were created using log exposure zoom pulls on neon versions of the Playstation symbols.
-

The beauty shot of the PS3 slim itself was more complex than it appears.

After shooting the 30 odd subjects over multiple days with 3 cameras at 500fps, editor Dayn Williams and I holed up in the W+K offices in Tokyo for weeks pouring over the 40 plus hours of footage. Psychosis soon set it with hilarious results.

It rains a lot in Tokyo in summer.  Luckily there is no lack of umbrellas.

In late 2009 I directed the Sony Playstation PS3 campaign in Tokyo, Japan, see a walk-through of the campaign here.
